Home dental routines during COVID 19

  • 27th March 2020

As the COVID 19 situation continues to evolve many of us are now self-isolating, meaning a dramatic change to our daily routines. Now that our current day to day lives are spent at home it can be easy for dental hygiene to become neglected. We have put together a few ways you can keep you and your family’s teeth healthy while in isolation.

Brushing your teeth and tongue

It seems obvious, however, when at home and out of our day to day routines many can forget or choose not to brush their teeth. Keeping a daily routine of brushing twice a day is essential to maintaining good oral health. Using fluoride toothpaste will help harden tooth enamel and prevents tooth decay. Brushing your tongue is also important as this fights bacteria in the mouth and bad breath.

Daily flossing

Do you floss? Flossing should be part of everyone’s daily teeth cleaning regime, but so many people skip this step. Flossing removes plaque and food particles from in between your teeth and areas that your toothbrush can’t reach. Start flossing today!

Keep your toothbrush clean

For your teeth to be clean and healthy you need to care for your toothbrush. It is essential that you rinse your toothbrush thoroughly after every use, making sure that there is no food debris or toothpaste left on the brush. Once rinsed shake any remaining water off the brush and store in an open space away from other toothbrushes.

Maintaining a healthy diet

While at home it is easy to be tempted by the fizzy drinks and sugary snacks in our cupboards, however, it’s important to remember that what you eat and drink has an impact on your teeth. Sugary and sticky foods can cause tooth decay, so opting for healthier options such as nuts, cheese and raw vegetables will not only keep your teeth happy and healthy but your body too!

At Bosham Dental Clinic, we take the safety and protection of our staff and customers very seriously. Due to the ever-changing situation regarding the coronavirus we are taking emergency bookings on a day to day basis only. If you are in need of an emergency appointment, please contact us today.
